Imps Ignite Lathlain

Monday, August 31, 2015 - 4:47 PM

On a fresh and sunny morning on Saturday July 4th, the Perth District Auskick clubs descended upon historic Lathlain Park for the annual district Auskick Gala Day. This year saw over 200 participants from Pre Primary to Year 2’s hit the turf to play 3 round robin games against as many different opponents as possible.

With many clubs playing on different days, the Auskick Gala day is the one real day when all centres across the district come together to compete and celebrate the game, making for a carnival and fun atmosphere.

With many stations set up around the banks for the kids to fine tune their skills in between games, the quality of the footy on display was first rate and impressed the many family and friends on hand to experience the event.

Auskick is one of the most important participation programs in our region and to see the day so proudly supported by district clubs was exceptional, with so many colours, streamers and banners flying proudly for the duration.

The biggest thrill for the kids was to experience the opportunity to play on a WAFL league ground, where hopefully one day many of them will represent the Perth Football Club. A big thank you to all the Auskick coordinators for putting in the time and effort to help coordinate the day, with such a strong showing we can only be excited about the future of football in the Perth District. We look forward to 2016 being bigger and better again!
