Fans Imagine Demons

Monday, August 31, 2015 - 5:05 PM

The Demons Super Clinic saw a new format offering a jam packed 2 days of footy at Lathlain Park. On top of our metro participants we had a great showing from our country zone with many kids making the trip to Perth from places such as Brookton, Quairading and Northam, in order to join in on the fun as well.

The opening Monday saw us get underway with a full skills session, delivered by our TAFE students and District staff putting a real emphasis on remediation of basic skills. As the morning progressed we were lucky enough to be visited by the West Coast Eagles including current Brownlow Medalist Matthew Priddis, Former Perth FC players Sam Butler and Fraser McGuiness.

The Perth FC Past Players and Officials came down and put on a sausage sizzle for lunch before Day 1 wrapped up with the ever popular show bags being handed out with so many fun goodies for the kids; including backpack, hat, shirt, footy, sweatbands and Perth FC playing cards.

The weather on day 2 did us no favours, but the theme of the day was all things Perth Football Club. With special guests Chance Bateman and Mitch Morton leading the morning talk sessions and bringing along their Premiership medallions and memorabilia for the kids to touch and take photos with.

The boys spoke about the pride they have for their WAFL club and how they hoped many of the kids would one day represent the demons. The kids spent the morning rotating through the warm up room for some WAFL drills, the gym where they got to try some of the elite machines our senior boys use, as well as a tour of the history centre to learn more about the history of the WAFL.

As we attempted to run some AFL draft combine drills on the oval, it was obvious it just wasn’t going to be our day as the rain set in. The kids hit the showers before devouring a delicious lunch provided by Teramo catering and spent the afternoon rugged up watching Perth FC games in the education centre. Regardless of the weather it was a fantastic 2 days of fun.
