2017 - The season that was

The 2017 Junior Football Competition reached its conclusion over the past week throughout the WAFC’s Metro Central Conference. September being the most exciting time of the season for all, with many awards and grand finals to be decided. But before we arrived at this point, the 2017 regular season shared with us many highlights. A few which we would like to note -

  • Inaugural Youth Footy Franchise (South City Thunder)
  • Auskick Gala Day at Curtin Uni
  • Auskick Yr 2 Gala Day at the WACA
  • Coaching Roadshows
  • Demons Kids School Transition Programs
  • Inaugural Naitanui Academy Program in conjunction with the West Coast Eagles
  • Year 6 and Year 7 Academy Programs
  • District Parade Day
  • Grand Final Day at Mills Park

These wouldn’t have been possible without the strong support of our junior clubs, schools and most importantly hard-working volunteers throughout. The Demons District thanks you for your strong support again in 2017.

Best and Fairest Awards:

The Demons District would like to recognise and congratulate the following individual player milestones for 2017. The Central Conference Best and Fairest awards were held at Lathlain Park on the 29th and 30th of August. The event was live streamed on Facebook to over 10k total viewers.

Youth Girls (South East) Best & Fairest - Cody Madaus (Gosnells JFC) & Khloe Taylor (Thornlie JFC)

Year 8 Super 15's Runner Up - Daniel Hill (Lynwood/Ferndale JFC)

Year 9 Super 15's Runner Up - Zak Meloncelli (Redcliffe JFC)

Year 11 White Runner Up - Noel Mancuveni (Queens Park JFC)

 

Demons District Premiers & Runners Up:

The Demons District again, was strongly represented in the 2017 Central Conference Grand Finals. Any team who is lucky enough to progress to a Grand Final should understand how big an achievement this is. We would also like to acknowledge the massive effort from the Kenwick JFC for hosting us at the impressive new Mills Park Facility. It was a fantastic event!

2017 Year 8 Super 15’s: Premiers – Lynwood/Ferndale JFC. Runners Up – Queens Park JFC. MVP – Daniel Hill (Lynwood/Ferndale JFC)

2017 Year 9 Super 15’s: Runners up - Redcliffe JFC

2017 Year 11 Red Division: Premiers - Belmont JFC. MVP – Leno Thomas (Belmont JFC)

Demons District Gala Awards

On Thursday the 14th of September, the Demons District held its annual Gala Awards night at Lathlain Park. The Gala Night, recognises the key contribution from our Clubs, Schools and stakeholders on their fantastic efforts across 2017. It also serves a celebration on another wonderful and exciting season. The Demons District was lucky enough to have special guests Larry Kickett (WAFC Commissioner), Troy Kirkham (WAFC Acting Manager of Community Engagement), Marty Atkins (Perth FC CEO) and finally Life Members Terry Murray and Sharon Murray in attendance to enjoy the festivities

Finally, the Demons District would like to acknowledge and thank our hard-working Junior Competition Council and District Football Development Council Members. Without these volunteers, we wouldn’t have a successful Junior Competition.
